The intern’s eyes took in the other doctors and nurses in the OT focusing on the task at hand, sensing the urgency palpably visible under the surface. Around them, the fire continued to spread. Plastering on the roof started to wilt and he could see hot embers wafting down.
“We have enough Covid deaths already, Doctor. We do not need more because we couldn’t do our jobs right.”
The intern met his gaze in awe, and silently returned to suturing.
